2006 Grant History
Queensborough Community Scholarship
The first 10 scholarships were awarded in the summer of 2005. In 2006, those same students were awarded a second year’s scholarship. Ten new students in the summer of 2006 were selected.
- The QCC Fund will credit the scholarship to each student’s tuition bill ($1400 per semester for full-time study/ $2800 per year)
- Each student would receive an additional $150 credit ($300 per year) at the bookstore for the purchase of books and class materials
- Students attending the College part-time (less than 12 credits) would receive full tuition remission at a rate of $120 per credit, and would receive an additional $150 credit at the bookstore for the purchase of books and class materials
- Students would have to meet the following criteria to be eligible for the scholarship:
- Be a Graduate of Campus Magnet School (formerly Andrew Jackson High School), Hillcrest High School, or Springfield Gardens High School; Have achieved a high school grade point average of 70 or higher;
- Demonstrate a recent record of consistent attendance at their high school;
- Obtain two letters of recommendation from teachers or guidance counselors;
- Complete a brief essay
- To remain eligible for this scholarship, the student must maintain a 2.5 average at the College.
- Applications for the 50 Cent QCC Scholarship will be reviewed by the College’s Scholarship Committee who will select recipients.
- Awards would be presented at special scholarship ceremony, simultaneously recognizing both student scholars and 50 Cent as sponsor. The event will be aggressively publicized through external media sources.
